The entire hydrological process can be seen in this one image, taken in the foothills of the Argentine Andes. Clouds drop fresh snow onto the mountains, which melts and trickles down through streams and rivers until it meets lakes, where evaporation then causes water moisture to rise back up into the atmosphere and condense to form new clouds. I was lucky enough to take this photo on a rare scenic flight of the area, at the very end of a long season spent climbing in the nearby mountains.
